Water Issues

It might seem "ironic" that this site is being launched in Colorado over the Summer of 2002, during one of the state's worst droughts and forest-fire seasons ever. But water has always been the key Sustainability issue throughout the West.

As many of the state's forests burn, and many suburban lawns turn brown, everyone is asking what Colorado (and the West in general) can do to increase the supply for water. Sadly, though, little mention is ever made of what can and should be done to manage the demand for water, especially considering that we live in a desert climate!

Case in point: a recent survey found that a whopping 54 percent of a typical Denver-area household's water usage went into landscaping! This should serve as proof that a big green lawn is not a logical alternative for houses in such an arid climate.

Luckily, though, alternative landscaping ideas like Xeriscaping are catching on ...

If your Sustainability issue is in need of "a message to help clear the air," then contact PvH Communications today to see how we can work together to make this happen.
